Retreat, Rebound, Re-engineer

The 9th Security 50 ranking examines movers and shakers in physical security.

This annual ranking of security companies was based on product sales revenues in 2010,

as the 2011 fiscal year is not yet over.

In light of the recession, 2010 was a welcome relief.

The past year saw renewed movement in emerging markets, with funding fir delayed

projects. Compared to 2009's grim market conditions, 2010 was the year security

bounced back.

Seccessful companies listened to their customers and developed innovative solutions

tailored to their need. They also expanded their footprint into developing markets,

offsetting losses in mature ones. These are basic Business 101 strategies, but are much

easier said than done. With unfit players eliminated by the recession, the survivors

showed they could prosper even in trying times.
